17 days!

So, according to our BB&B registry, there are only 17 days before the wedding. WTF?! How can that be, when I spent a large portion of my afternoon listening to Magnetic Fields whilst reading about serial killers on the internets?! And then went on a social bike ride in the evening? AAAAAGH!

Two things I've accomplished today:

1) I ordered a shrug to wear with my dress! I'm lame/awesome and photoshopped it onto the pic of me in my dress and it makes me look less naked (Oh, strapless dress, why did I choose you?). Bonus: it was about half the cost of the last one i liked. This one isn't quite as cute, but whatever, I'm on a budget.
(note: this is not me.)

2) I have someone to do my hair! My friend Kathleen, who just recently got out of beauty school, is going to do my hair. She loves vintage and vintage hairdos and knows exactly what I want! I can't wait to do a trial with her!

Bonus non-wedding-related: I altered my dress for the ugly bridesmaid dress bike ride I'm leading on Friday! And by altered, I mean I hacked it to an appropriate length, and sewed two small darts in the back.

Tomorrow after work I need to ride down to the mall (ugh) to try on shapewear (double ugh) and buy tissue paper and fake flowers (for the ride) at SCRAP and the dollar store!  My life right now = fascinating.

ha ha ha this made me crack up because it totally sounds like me!

also, for shapewear, I recommend macys, not too expensive. they have things you can actually breathe/move around it that also support

good luck with the next couple weekes!

  2. I don't know what you are looking for shapewear wise, but Spanx has a line that's sold at Target pretty cheap. I have a few pairs of their bike shorts looking stuff and have no complaints. I've never tried any of their stuff that goes up over the stomach though and I've heard that those kinds can have trouble with rolling down, so just beware.

  3. Lisa, I kept asking myself, "Is this ok? This doesn't make me feel ok." Ugh. I looked at the Macys website and most of the stuff that would work was by Flexees, which I haven't had the best luck with. I'll probably try it, though.

Erica, I've read that about the high-waisted Assets so I'm just going to not be cheap and get the Spanx. Ugh. I wanted to wear one of my cute vintagey waist-cinchers but my dress needs everything to be smoothed out, not well-defined, so oh, well.

  4. Yeah 17 days is SOON, you feel like you (sorta) have all the time in the world, and then like a flash its the thursday before your wedding and your older sis just gave you a reality check with all the things that need to be done and happen so this wedding can actually take place which overwhelms you and then you wonder if you were an idiot to take on planning your own wedding at your own house. or maybe that's just me.
