DIY success!

Ok, tell me this isn't the cutest goddamn thing ever. EVER.

EVER!!!!!!

I made this pinwheel out of 1/4 of a piece of 12x12 Martha Stewart scrapbooking paper bought in a stack of fun, glittery colors. I covered the dowel by wrapping a couple of 1" strips of another paper around it. I was having problems getting the pin to stick far enough into the dowel, so I solved the problem by hot-gluing a huge 3-dimensional blob onto the dowel and letting it dry before pushing the pin in. That way it had more grip! In order to get the pinwheel to sit properly on the dowel, I put on the pin: 1 small bead. Pinwheel. 2 more beads. And then I stuck it in! (That's what he said.) Wow, this sounds so much simpler than this process actually was. You could also put eraser caps on the dowels, or just use pencils and stick the pin into the eraser if you want smaller pinwheels. I started out with the directions found here, and then altered them to suit my needs. As I mentioned, we are making big 12x12 pinwheels as aisle decorations. These little ones are for the kids!

Also, please note the TWO FiestaWare pitchers AND the pie-plate underneath! The aqua and red pieces are a wedding present from my cousin, and the white one I found at Goodwill for $6.99. No, I couldn't pass it up. I am nuts about Fiesta disc pitchers and could have one in every. single. color.
